RIM Acquisition Developer Application Stores Cellmania

Research In Motion (RIM) will develop his own application store, Blackberry App World to compete with Apple's App Store and Google's Android Market. For the development of RIM's application store, RIM buy the company developers applications store, Cellmania.

However, as reported by Cnet, Thursday (26/08/2010), both RIM and Cellmania did not mention the value of those purchases. In his official site, Cellmania announcement revealed that his company has joined with RIM to distribute any applications for BlackBerry handsets.

Cellmania stores known also develop applications for telecom operators such as Orange and Sprint.

This acquisition is expected to strengthen the position of RIM, given the number of OS such as Android developers also continued packing the application store, Android Market. Google's Android Market application store itself has started to approach the popularity of Apple. The reason, Android Store could have targeted 100 000 applications until August 2010.
